Vigen Vladimir Kocharyan

Was born in 1972.

EDUCATION

1988–1993 Yerevan State University, Faculty of Law; diploma with honors.

 

In 1996, V. Kocharyan received the degree of Candidate of Sciences in Jurisprudence [PhD in Jurisprudence] at St. Petersburg State University.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

1996–2006 Lecturer at the Chair of Constitutional and International Law at YSU; Associate Professor.

 

1998–2008 The Association of Lawyers of the Republic of Armenia; Executive Director.

 

In 1999, at the University of California at Berkeley (USA), V. Kochryan participated in the educational training programme for young professionals.

 

1999–2003 The member of the RA President’s Commission on Constitutional Reforms.

 

2001 – Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge.

 

2001–2015 Representative of Armenia to the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (the Council of Europe).

 

2004–2008 Representative of Armenia to the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities (the Council of Europe).

 

2006–2014 Founder of the Chair of European and International Law of Yerevan State University, Head of the above-mentioned Chair.

 

2015–2019 Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

 

In June 2019, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia elected V. Kocharyan as a member of the Supreme Judicial Council.

 

On October 23, 2024, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia, V. Kocharyan was appointed a judge of the Civil chamber of the Court of Cassation of the Republic of Armenia.
